Position Title: Part-Time Clinic Coach
About True North Sports Camps:
True North Sports Camps offers year-round sports programming for boys and girls ages 4 to 14 throughout mid-town Toronto. During the fall, winter and spring months, we offer clinics, private lessons, mini camps and birthday parties focusing on Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer and Multi-Sport. At True North, we believe that recreational sports are an important part of every child’s development and we make it our top priority to deliver a truly memorable experience. True North Sports Camps was created by the founders of North Toronto Baseball Camp, and since 2007 our goal has remained the same: to provide the highest quality sports instruction in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.

At True North Sports Camps we are committed to creating the best possible experience for every camper and great staff are vital to achieving that goal! While developing the campers’ athletic skills is certainly important, our core focus is creating a positive environment for our participants, allowing them to have fun and forge lasting friendships.
Responsibilities:
Clinic Coaches are responsible for leading a skill group and providing outstanding instruction to young athletes, while fostering a fun, encouraging and inclusive environment. More specifically, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Pre-Clinic
- Reviewing and becoming familiar with the clinic programming sent to you by the Clinic Director
During Clinics
- Assisting with participant “check-in” and “check-out”
- Leading a skill group / executing the programming:
- Ensuring that all campers feel welcome and are participating
- Ensuring that all campers are safe, well hydrated and protected from the sun (as applicable)
- Providing instruction in a manner that takes individual differences in skill and learning styles into account
- Preparing for and cleaning up after each lesson, drill and game
- Leading large group activities
Post-Clinic
- Communicating with the Clinic Director and fellow coaches to discuss what went well during the clinic and what needs to be improved for future clinics
In addition, from time-to-time Clinic Coaches may have the opportunity to instruct individual or group private lessons, birthday parties or mini camps.
Qualifications:
- The ability to inspire confidence and motivate participants
- High energy and enthusiasm
- Strong organizational skills, patience and dependability
- A familiarity with and a passion for one or more of the following sports: baseball, basketball, flag football and/or soccer
- Experience working, coaching or volunteering with children
- A strong work ethic and communication skills
- The ability to asses and solve problems quickly
- At least 16 years-old
Working Hours and Conditions:
Our Part-Time Clinic Coaches often work after-school (in the evenings) and on weekends for 1 hour to 5 hours at a time. Our clinics, mini camps, birthday parties and private lessons take place in a variety of locations including: schools, city parks, sports clubs, backyards and private health clubs. Some clinics may take place outside (depending on the time of year and sport). As a Clinic Coach you will be constantly moving around and staying active while providing instruction to our participants. Coaches will be required to attend a mandatory training session once hired before they are able to work a True North Clinic.
Compensation
Compensation for our part-time Clinic Coach role is $25/hour.
Scheduling:
Successful candidates will be contacted with our upcoming clinic, mini camp, birthday party and private lesson schedule, and they will be booked based on each coach’s availability and the needs of our programs. True North Sports Camps does not guarantee a minimum amount of work for our Part-Time Clinic Coaches.
