About True North Sports Camps:
True North Sports Camps offers year-round sports programming for boys and girls ages 4 to 14 throughout mid-town Toronto. During the fall, winter and spring months, we offer clinics, mini camps, birthday parties and private lessons focusing on Baseball, Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer and Multi-Sport. At True North, we believe that recreational sports are an important part of every child’s development and we make it our top priority to deliver a truly memorable experience.
True North Sports Camps was created by the founders of North Toronto Baseball Camp, and since 2007 our goal has remained the same: to provide the highest quality sports instruction in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.

While developing the campers’ athletic skills is certainly important, our core focus is creating a positive environment for our participants, allowing them to have fun and forge lasting friendships.
Responsibilities:
Clinic Directors are the on-site leaders of our clinics and are responsible for the planning, organization and implementation of clinic programming, while fostering a fun, inclusive and safe environment for all participants and staff. As Clinic Director you are responsible for the holistic management of the clinic. More specifically, Clinic Directors have responsibilities both on-site and off-site, which include, but are not limited to, the following:
Pre-Clinic:
- Work with the camp office to create clinic programming (weekly)
- Communicate any relevant info to the coaches each week before the clinic
During Clinics:
Staff Management
- Provide coaches with informal feedback and instruction
- Communication of weekly schedules and reminders to coaches (including medical conditions, programming modifications, etc.)
- Facilitate start and end of day staff meetings – set expectations for all coaches and encourage personal growth
Programming
- Organize clinic groups before the first day of the clinic
- Create and facilitate weekly clinic programming – get involved with the participants!
- Work with coaches and leadership staff to continuously improve programming
Participants and Family Interactions
- Manage and delegate participant check-in and check-out
- Communicate and interact with parents throughout the clinic – handling program questions and feedback in a professional manner by providing exceptional customer service
- Assist coaches by providing care and comfort to upset and distraught participants
First Aid and Clinic Safety
- Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner
- Providing first aid to participants and Coaches as needed
- Keeping diligent records of all incidents at the clinics
- Keeping a clean, well organized, and fully stocked first aid kit
Post Clinic:
- Communicating with coaches each week as to what went well and what needs to be improved for future clinics
- Relaying any important info to the leadership staff each week regarding; injuries, complaints, staffing, equipment, registration, facility, etc.
Experience and Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills developed through previous supervisory roles along with the ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Experience developing programs and activities for children
- Well developed interpersonal and relationship building skills: ability to establish rapport and maintain excellent communication with participants, parents, and coaches
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt
- Experience playing and coaching baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer AND/OR extensive experience working with young children in a supervisory role as a teacher or early childhood educator
- Ability to encourage and motivate staff, and to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of others
- Clinic Directors will be required to become certified for Standard First Aid and CPR C if they do not already possess these certifications
Working Hours and Conditions:
Our Clinic Directors often work after-school (in the evenings) and on weekends for 1 hour to 5 hours at a time. Our clinics, mini camps, birthday parties and private lessons take place in a variety of locations including: schools, city parks, backyards, sports clubs, and private health clubs. Some clinics may take place outside (depending on the time of year and sport). As a Director you will be constantly moving around and staying active while providing instruction and leadership to our staff and participants.
Compensation
Compensation for our part-time Clinic Director role is $40/hour.
Scheduling:
Successful candidates will be contacted with our upcoming clinic and private lesson schedule, and they will be booked based on each coach’s availability and the needs of our programs. True North Sports Camps does not guarantee a minimum amount of work for our Clinic Directors
